Spain holidays have been popular in the UK since way before cheap air flight became the norm. When cheap flights and package holidays started to gain popularity, Spain holidays took off big time and English holiday makers flooded to the countries many paradise islands and the beautiful, warm southern coast. The south has always remained popular do its amazing beaches, pleasant warm climate and proximity to the UK, especially from the London airports where it takes only a few hours to reach your destination.

However, there’s a part of Spain that’s even closer to the UK that’s ignored by many holiday makers; the north. The north of Spain couldn’t be more different to the busy south coast. It offers up a completely different holiday experience and attracts a different type of holiday maker. If you’re looking for a walking holiday and want to get as close to the heart of Spain as possible, the north is the absolute best location to be. Here, Spain is still much the same as it was a hundred years ago. If you’ve always loved the country but shunned the crowds it’s a great place to get away, especially for active older couples.

Spain holidays are well known for being easy customise, and the north is no exception. You can enjoy a more structured hotel-to-hotel walk along the north coast, taking in the secluded beaches, mountain views and dramatic scenery, or you can choose a hotel as a ‘base camp’ and plan your own exploration of the Spanish countryside during the day. The north is typically cooler than the South, but Spain holidays to the north coast will bring pleasant walking weather for most of the year and you’ll have much more flexibility about when to go than if you were taking a simple beach holiday.

Check online now and take a look at a part of Spain that’s as beautiful as it is remote, and experience the country a little differently this year.
