Summer holidays offer two advantages to going away to any other time in the year: you’ve got less to worry about when it comes to weather (at least for most countries) and you’ve got a lot of time to spare, especially if you have a large family with children in different schools that have different term times. Of course, this flexibility comes at a price, usually meaning that resorts are busier and both accommodation and flights are more expensive.

Just about every European destination will be very warm during the summer months so if you’re planning on staying within Europe you won’t have to worry too much about the weather. Many cultural festivals takes place during the summer months so if you do end up having to spend out the extra money to travel in July and August, booking your dates around these once a year celebrations can give you a bit extra in terms of value for money. You’ll be seeing something that the people who wait around the fringes of the summer holidays will never get to see.

Summer holidays are often family holidays, so you could also considering doing something a bit more interesting for your kids than a simple beach holiday. Disney World offers some of the best family entertainment in the world. There’s one in Paris and Florida but while the Paris one might seem cheaper it’s not nearly as varied a location as Orlando and doesn’t offer quite the same experience. In fact, you’ll find there isn’t a massive price difference between the two destinations thanks to strength of the pound against the dollar.

If you don’t want to go quite that far, you can book early in order to find the hotels that have the best kids entertainment and even crèche options so you can be sure you’ll enjoy your holiday in full without having to worry about the kids not enjoying themselves. As always, the best childcare hotels with the best reputation are the ones that fill up as long as a whole year in advance for dates in July and August, so start planning your summer holidays as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
