There are two reasons to get away on cheap winter holidays. The first is noticeable any time you want to look out of your window between November and February – heavy winds, rain, snow, freezing temperatures or worse awaits you outside. It’s just not nice to stay outside, and when it comes to comparing the UK with most of the southern European countries that remain mild during winter, there just isn’t much contest! Even those days where it doesn’t rain we only get a few hours of sunlight, making it easy of dreaming of cheap winter holidays to somewhere a little more pleasant.

So what are your options for getting away on cheap winter holidays? The last thing you want is to pay out money to go on holiday, only to arrive at your destination and find it’s not much warmer than it was at home. In winter, beach holidays do involve you normally going further afield than you might do during spring, autumn or summer, but you don’t have to fly to the other end of the world – unless you want to, that is!

Egypt offers a great mix of heat and short travel times – in fact, many people swear by winter holidays in Egypt simply because the country is so hot during the summer months. In winter, Egypt remains very warm of course, but temperatures are slightly more bearable if you want to see the sights and do a lot of walking while still remaining great for just sitting on the beach.

Walking holidays can also be found just about everywhere in Southern Europe. Although the temperatures in Spain and the Spanish islands do drop in winter making beach holidays impossible, the weather never actually gets cold, making them a great choice for cheap winter holidays – many resorts that would have cost a ton during the summer are incredibly cheap in the winter months, plus you get to experience your destination in way you never would had done if you had gone in June or July and simply sat on a beach!
