Is it still practical to keep up with an August vacation?
It has been a western tradition to go for holidays in August, that month wherein kids are just off school and most parents want the excuse to take a break from work. Year after year, families and circle of friends go on vacations to their dream destinations, weekend at a theme park or explore historic and sites of cultural importance.
For decades now, both major and smaller vacation spots are swamped with guests at this time of year, making holidays in August the busiest period of services among hotels and restaurants, beaches and parks, and tourism sites. On the other hand, months prior to August are most bustling for travel agencies and tour operators catering to those who plan their vacations ahead.
As the economic slump is experienced worldwide, the traditional holidays in August are spent closer to home for economic reasons. The rising cost of travel, lodging and vacation amenities have kept many families in their home during the period, while some opted for simpler travels by arranging their vacations on their own. Instead of bringing the whole brood, parents spend time as a couple and the kids get to go on a weekend getaway at a nearby theme park.
For families who still pursue bonding during holidays in August, it means cutting a weeklong trip to just 3-5 days. Booking several months ahead for any trip also saves lots of money for families, as well as choosing discounts from a variety of online travel companies. For hoteliers, they are struggling to get regular numbers of visitors with lowering their room costs, or giving away extra rooms free of charge for extended stays.
To have a memorable and fun, yet low-cost vacation, search for packaged holidays in August within your means. Don’t break the traditional yearly getaway; just don’t break your budget!
