Millions of people from all over the world will flock to Greece over the course of year looking for a good value holiday. Indeed, while the flights may cost slightly more and you’ll be on the plane for longer than if you travelled to Spain, there are plenty of great deals available to suit all tastes and budget. From self catering apartment accommodation to luxury all inclusive villa holidays just about every type of holiday can found last minute on the fringes of the summer season. If your holidays to Greece do happen to fall in June, July or August, booking ahead might be the best choice to avoid the out of school rush and the high prices that go with it.

So, where to go? If you’re new to exploring the possibilities of holidays to Greece, the amount of different locations, regions and islands can often be entirely overwhelming, and with just about all of them offering some sort of deal, and promising an amazing holiday it isn’t always easy to choose. If you want to get the most out of your first holidays to Greece though, you can’t go wrong with the island of Skiathos where you not only get the full Greek tourist experience but you’ve always got a base camp to jump between other Greek islands without needing to change your hotel.

Skiathos has everything you can dream of from a typical beach holiday, including the full range of activities on, under and out of the water. You’ll find hiking and diving adventures as well as Greek cooking courses, local tours and museums to visit.

Even if you simply stayed on Skiathos your entire holiday, you wouldn’t be missing out at all. However, the advantage of the island is the ferry system which moves between the neighbouring islands of Skopelos and Alonissos. It’s a beautiful trip in itself, but it also opens up Greece to you in a way that few other holidays to Greece can offer.
