For millions of holidaymakers, Greece holidays have become the break of choice for a huge number of reasons, not least because it’s one of the best countries in the world for a holiday that can combine history and relaxation. If you want to lie on the beach all day, your partner wants to visit the sites while your kids want to be entertained throughout the holiday, Greece holidays can fulfil everyone’s desires in a way few over countries can.

Even if you’ve been on Greece holidays before, planning your trip around one of the countries many festivals can give you a totally different experience every time. The Hellenic festival is one of the biggest and features some of the country’s best opera, classic musical, theatre and dancing. The festival runs through the entire length of the city and is a must visit, and there are plenty of other festivals happening throughout the year. There’s not a better way to immerse yourself in Greek culture.

More and more people are also taking Greece holidays to Athens, one of the most historic cities in the world. The Acropolis and its associated museums – including the cities National Archaeological Museum – are a great visit, although they are less ‘child friendly’ than the hands on museums you’ll find in other European and American cities.

If you want a little bit of sun and sand with your culture, you can’t beat the famous Greek islands for weather, comfort and hospitality. Almost all of them serve as a microcosm of the mainland itself, offering up accessible culture and historic sites alongside luxury resorts many of which provide a huge selection of entertainment for kids and adults alike.

Greece holidays are best booked around the start of the summer months when the weather is warm and the crowds haven’t quite arrived. You can continue to enjoy beach holidays until the end of September when the weather gets cooler. At this point, sightseeing holidays and walking / hiking treks around the islands become more popular, so there’s never really a time when Greece isn’t a destination to consider.
